Why Jura Limestone Stands Apart

Ancient Fossils.
Modern Restoration Expertise.

Jura limestone — quarried from the Jurassic limestone beds of Bavaria, Germany — is among the most geologically remarkable natural stones used in Palm Beach County luxury design. Its grey (Jura Grey) and beige (Jura Beige) varieties are packed with exceptionally well-preserved ammonite, nautilus, and marine fossil inclusions that are visible across the surface, creating a floor or countertop that is also, in a very real sense, a geological exhibit.

Jura limestone is considerably denser and harder than most limestones — closer to some softer marbles in its surface hardness — which makes it more resistant to scratching and staining than French or Jerusalem limestones. However, it remains a calcium carbonate stone that etches on acid contact, and its fossil-rich surface requires careful restoration to avoid damaging or blurring the fossil detail that is the stone’s primary appeal.

At Lifestyle Marble Restoration, we’ve restored Jura Grey and Jura Beige in Palm Beach County estate interiors, luxury kitchen installations, and commercial lobby floors. We use diamond grits calibrated to Jura’s specific hardness — harder than French limestone but softer than granite — and work at controlled speeds to preserve the exceptional fossil detail that makes every Jura installation irreplaceable.

What We Do

Every Statuario Surface.
Handled With Precision.

From a single etched countertop to a full-estate floor — we restore Statuario to the standard its value demands.

High-Gloss Polish Restoration

Statuario is almost always installed at a mirror-gloss finish that showcases its intense white field. We restore that gloss using calibrated diamond progression — no dullness, no haziness, no over-polish.

Etch Mark Removal

Statuario’s high-polish surface makes acid etching especially visible. We remove the damaged surface layer with fine diamond abrasives and re-polish to an exact match — invisible against the surrounding stone.

Fossil Surface Preservation

Statuario’s dramatic veining is its defining feature. Our technicians work carefully around vein patterns during grinding and polishing to ensure the character of the stone is fully preserved, never blurred or disrupted.

Countertop & Waterfall Island Restoration

Statuario waterfall kitchen islands are among the most striking — and most etched — surfaces we restore. We eliminate etch rings, surface scratches, and dulling and return the surface to its original showroom depth.

Shower & Feature Wall Revival

Statuario is frequently used as a full-wall feature in luxury master bathrooms. We restore both wall slabs and floor tiles in a single visit using wet-environment diamond work and shower-rated penetrating sealers.

Penetrating Sealer Application

Every Statuario restoration ends with a professional penetrating sealer that protects the stone’s pores from future acid damage and moisture without adding any surface sheen or altering the stone’s appearance.

Our Process

Four Steps to
Jura Limestone That Looks New

1

Deep Clean & Assess

We strip surface contaminants and assess etch depth, finish level, and porosity. A test patch is done on larger jobs.

2

Diamond Honing

Progressive diamond abrasives remove the etched layer and level the surface to a uniform, scratch-free plane.

3

Polish to Match

We finish at your floor’s original grit level — mirror-gloss, satin, or honed matte — so the restoration is invisible.

4

Seal & Protect

Premium penetrating sealer is applied and buffed in. Your Calacatta is walkable within hours, protected for years.

Jura Limestone FAQs

Common Questions About
Jura Limestone Restoration

Jura is actually easier to work with in some respects than softer limestones because its greater density means diamond abrasives remove material more predictably and slowly — reducing the risk of over-grinding. However, the fossil detail requires the same careful approach: calibrated diamond grits, controlled pressure, and a test patch to confirm results before proceeding across the floor.
Not when done correctly. The fossils in Jura limestone are dense calcium material — they respond to diamond honing similarly to the surrounding stone matrix. When we use appropriate grit calibration and controlled pressure, the fossils are preserved intact and actually become more visible after restoration because the surface haze and scratches that were obscuring them are removed.
Jura Grey is typically installed at a polished or semi-polished finish that showcases its grey tones and fossil detail in reflected light. Jura Beige is usually honed to a matte finish that emphasizes the warm beige palette and fossil texture in ambient light. We assess the specific finish of your installation first and restore to match it exactly — the two varieties require slightly different finishing grits and techniques.
A typical Jura floor of 400-800 sq ft takes one full day. Countertop projects are 2-4 hours. We provide a specific timeline during your free on-site estimate.
pH-neutral stone cleaners only — Jura etches from acid contact despite being harder than most limestones. Never use vinegar, citrus-based cleaners, or any product not specifically rated for natural stone. Our Neutral Fresh Marble Cleaner is safe for Jura and all limestone varieties and is included complimentary with every service over $1,000.
