Stone Types We Restore: Marble, Granite, Travertine & Quartzite

Every stone behaves differently under a polishing pad. Below is what we restore most often across South Florida homes, from the softness of onyx to the density of granite — and what each one specifically needs to come back to life.

Marble

Marble is calcite-based, which makes it beautiful and genuinely soft — it etches from acid (citrus, wine, vinegar) and scratches more easily than granite or quartzite. Every variety below gets honed, polished, and sealed to its own finish, not a one-size treatment.

Travertine & Limestone

Travertine and limestone are porous by nature — pitting, holes, and staining come with the territory, especially on pool decks and terraces exposed to South Florida sun and salt air. We fill, hone, and seal with penetrating sealers rated for that exposure.

Granite & Quartzite

Granite and quartzite are the hardest stones we work on — they hold up to daily wear far better than marble, but that density means dulling and etching still show, just more slowly. Diamond polishing restores the original shine without replacing the surface.

Onyx & Specialty Stone

Onyx and soapstone are the most delicate surfaces we touch — onyx is often backlit and translucent, soapstone is soft enough to scratch with a fingernail. Both call for a lighter hand than marble.
