Why Calacatta Demands Expert Care

The World’s Most Prized Marble
Requires the Right Hands

Calacatta marble — quarried exclusively from the Apuan Alps of Carrara, Italy — is defined by its stark white background and dramatic, sweeping grey-gold veining. It’s the marble of choice in Palm Beach County’s most prestigious estates, luxury condominiums, and designer kitchens. It is also, without question, one of the most reactive stones on the market.

Its calcium carbonate composition means it etches on contact with acids — citrus, wine, vinegar, many household cleaners — leaving dull, hazy patches that cannot be wiped away. Palm Beach County’s hard water compounds the problem, depositing mineral film with every splash that dulls Calacatta’s characteristic brilliance over time.

At Lifestyle Marble Restoration, we’ve restored Calacatta floors, countertops, waterfall islands, bathroom vanities, and full shower surrounds across Palm Beach Island, Boca Raton, Jupiter, and beyond. We know precisely how to match Calacatta’s finish — whether high-gloss mirror or soft honed — without over-grinding or altering the veining pattern.

What We Do

Every Calacatta Surface.
Every Type of Damage.

From a single etched countertop to a complete estate floor restoration — we handle it all.

Etch Mark Removal

Calacatta etches faster than most marbles. We use progressive diamond abrasives to remove the damaged surface layer and re-polish to an exact finish match — seamless and invisible.

Diamond Honing & Polishing

Whether your Calacatta has a mirror-gloss finish or a soft, contemporary hone, we restore it exactly. We stop at the same grit level as your original installation so restored areas blend perfectly.

Hard Water Stain Removal

Mineral deposits from Palm Beach County’s limestone-rich water dull Calacatta’s white field into a gray haze. Our professional de-calcification treatments dissolve the buildup without damaging the stone.

Countertop & Island Restoration

Calacatta waterfall islands and kitchen countertops take the most daily abuse. We restore scratches, etch rings, and dulling from cooking acids — returning the surface to its original showroom clarity.

Shower & Bathroom Revival

Calacatta showers are stunning until soap scum and hard water turn them cloudy. Our wet-environment diamond honing and shower-rated resealing process restores both walls and floors in a single visit.

Penetrating Sealer Application

Every Calacatta restoration ends with a premium penetrating sealer — never a topical coating. This protects the stone’s pores from future acid etching and liquid intrusion without altering its look.

Our Process

Four Steps to
Calacatta That Looks New

1

Deep Clean & Assess

We strip surface contaminants and assess etch depth, finish level, and porosity. A test patch is done on larger jobs.

2

Diamond Honing

Progressive diamond abrasives remove the etched layer and level the surface to a uniform, scratch-free plane.

3

Polish to Match

We finish at your floor’s original grit level — mirror-gloss, satin, or honed matte — so the restoration is invisible.

4

Seal & Protect

Premium penetrating sealer is applied and buffed in. Your Calacatta is walkable within hours, protected for years.

Calacatta FAQs

Common Questions About
Calacatta Marble Restoration

Yes — in nearly all cases. Etch marks are surface-level damage to the polished layer, not the stone itself. We use progressive diamond abrasives to remove only the affected layer, then re-hone and re-polish to blend seamlessly with the surrounding surface. Calacatta tile replacement is almost never necessary for etch damage alone.
Absolutely. Those rings are classic acid etching from beverages — water with lemon, wine, sparkling water, coffee. They look permanent but they’re not. Our countertop polishing service removes the etched layer and restores the original gloss or honed finish. Most countertop etch jobs are completed in a few hours.
No. Diamond honing removes only a microscopic layer of the surface — it does not alter the stone’s natural color, veining pattern, or character. In fact, restoration typically makes the veining appear more vivid because the haze and contamination that was dulling it is gone. We do a test patch on every large project so you can see exactly what to expect before we proceed.
A typical Calacatta floor (400–800 sq ft) takes one full day. Countertop-only jobs are usually 2–4 hours. Combined floor and countertop projects may take a day and a half. We provide a specific timeline after assessing your surfaces on the free estimate visit.
Only pH-neutral stone cleaners — never vinegar, lemon, bleach, or multi-surface sprays. Our Neutral Fresh Marble Cleaner is specifically formulated for Calacatta and all natural marble: it cleans without etching, enhances shine, and leaves no residue. We include a free bottle with every service over $1,000. We also provide written care instructions after every project.
