Soapstone
Dark, Rich Tones
Beautifully Restored
Soapstone is unlike any other natural stone — it doesn’t etch, doesn’t stain from most substances, and develops a rich natural patina over time. When scratches, uneven oiling, or surface wear diminish its distinctive depth, our specialist restoration process restores it completely.
- pH-neutral — safe for soapstone & all natural stone
- Removes dirt, grime, oils & residue
- No rinse required — streak-free

The Stone That Plays
By Its Own Rules
Soapstone — composed primarily of talc, magnesite, and chlorite — is the most unique natural stone surface used in Palm Beach County luxury homes. Its deep charcoal, dark grey, and blue-black tones with subtle grey veining make it a striking choice for kitchen countertops, island surfaces, and bathroom vanities in contemporary, transitional, and farmhouse-style estate designs. It has been used for kitchen and laboratory surfaces for centuries precisely because of its extraordinary chemical resistance.
Soapstone does not etch from acids — it is non-reactive to citrus, wine, vinegar, and virtually all common household chemicals. It does not stain from most organic and mineral substances because its composition naturally resists absorption. What it does do is scratch — its talc content makes it one of the softer natural stones on the Mohs scale, and surface scratches from metal utensils, keys, and abrasive materials are common. It also develops a patina over time as the surface oxidizes and darkens, which many homeowners love — but an uneven patina can look worn rather than distinguished.
Soapstone restoration is a fundamentally different process from marble or granite restoration. We use specific diamond grits appropriate to talc’s very low hardness, mineral oil treatment to enhance the deep charcoal tones and even out patina development, and in some cases complete surface re-honing to restore a uniform appearance. At Lifestyle Marble Restoration, we’ve restored soapstone countertops and floors in contemporary Palm Beach County estate kitchens and we understand exactly what this unique material requires.
Every Statuario Surface.
Handled With Precision.
From a single etched countertop to a full-estate floor — we restore Statuario to the standard its value demands.
High-Gloss Polish Restoration
Statuario is almost always installed at a mirror-gloss finish that showcases its intense white field. We restore that gloss using calibrated diamond progression — no dullness, no haziness, no over-polish.
Etch Mark Removal
Statuario’s high-polish surface makes acid etching especially visible. We remove the damaged surface layer with fine diamond abrasives and re-polish to an exact match — invisible against the surrounding stone.
Honing & Oil Treatment
Statuario’s dramatic veining is its defining feature. Our technicians work carefully around vein patterns during grinding and polishing to ensure the character of the stone is fully preserved, never blurred or disrupted.
Countertop & Waterfall Island Restoration
Statuario waterfall kitchen islands are among the most striking — and most etched — surfaces we restore. We eliminate etch rings, surface scratches, and dulling and return the surface to its original showroom depth.
Shower & Feature Wall Revival
Statuario is frequently used as a full-wall feature in luxury master bathrooms. We restore both wall slabs and floor tiles in a single visit using wet-environment diamond work and shower-rated penetrating sealers.
Penetrating Sealer Application
Every Statuario restoration ends with a professional penetrating sealer that protects the stone’s pores from future acid damage and moisture without adding any surface sheen or altering the stone’s appearance.
Four Steps to
Soapstone That Looks New
Deep Clean & Assess
We strip surface contaminants and assess etch depth, finish level, and porosity. A test patch is done on larger jobs.
Diamond Honing
Progressive diamond abrasives remove the etched layer and level the surface to a uniform, scratch-free plane.
Polish to Match
We finish at your floor’s original grit level — mirror-gloss, satin, or honed matte — so the restoration is invisible.
Seal & Protect
Premium penetrating sealer is applied and buffed in. Your Calacatta is walkable within hours, protected for years.
